Loreen Targos is a Chicago-based lady who's finally grown sick of the 38 parking tickets she got this summer and decided to fight back, mostly because many of them were issues by overzealous officers who did not seem to be able to make a fine difference between legal and illegal parking.
Loreen is one of the many Chicago riders who would park her bike in narrow spaces between the tow and the pay zones. Nothing illegal to this, if you can assess the fine nuance differences between parking in a forbidden zone and outside it.
To no avail, as tickets kept on coming in, for "parking outside the designated area" and similar fudge. As you can clearly see, her bike is in an area which does not fall under the parking ban, and neither is it in a paid area.
The dumb officers who ticketed her for this should have been smart enough to see there is no Do Not Park sign between the two, therefore making parking legal, if you ask me.
Anyway, Loreen started contesting the tickets, and has so far won 14 of the 38 "rounds". The Chicago PD and Department of Finance still don't seem to get it. But they will, oh boy they will...
