Certain people have a clear goal in life - to get their hands on a Prancing Horse. For all those willing to enter the Ferrari Owners Club but lacking the rather necessary financial resources, we may have come up with a solution. A modern Ferrari you can buy for laptop money.
The starting point is a 360, basically the oldest Ferrari you can still label under “modern”, at least when talking from the styling point of view. This is a 2001 360 Spider. to be more precise.
The vehicle has been totaled and was deemed as “unrepairable” - the extensive front end chassis damage and the front passenger’s right-side wheel. which has sunken under the car, are enough to have earned it the aforementioned status.
While the passenger’s door was detached, probably in the effort to remove the occupants from the car, there are also other issues with it. For some reason or another, the roof has remained stowed, so the the blown airbags and the broken glass are now just a part of the cabin’s problems.
Despite this, the vehicle looks untouched from the seats towards the rear. This is great news since, last time we checked, that is where the 360 kept its engine. Heck, even the glass cover of the powerplant is in good shape.
The 360 Spider is currently in a salvage yard in Toronto, Canada and, you guessed it, it’s up for grabs. At the time when this article was published, there were 26 days left by the end of the auction, with the maximum bid sitting at CAD 1,050 (US$ 960). Taxes would bring that to CAD 1,841 (US$ 1,688), which means laptop money. Of course, having that much time left means the price could climb considerably. Then again, there some pretty expensive laptops out there.
