In 1976, Ferrari used the Paris Motor Show to unveil the new 512 BB, a model that once again impressed in terms of design and performance.
With a 5.0-liter V12 12-cylinder engine, the car offered no less than 360 horsepower at 6,800 rpm, which allowed for a maximum speed of 302 km/h (187 mph) and a zero to 400 meters acceleration in just 13.7 seconds.
Needless to say, this made the 512 BB the kind of car many people only dreamed about driving, especially because the production was limited to less than 1,000 units. It's pretty clear this wasn't supposed to be a common appearance on streets across the world.
And yet, someone out there has actually found such a Ferrari in a barn, with the car now listed for sale on Craigslist with a price only a few can afford.
Advertised as a barn find, the Ferrari comes with the original 12-cylinder engine and with just 22,000 miles (35,405 km) on the clock, which is believed to be the accurate mileage. In fact, everything on the car is likely to be original, and the seller says it’s never been involved in an accident.
Best of all, there’s no sign of rust on this 512 BB, which means it has most likely been stored in just the right conditions. Purchased new in Walnut Creek, California, the car spent its life in the same place, so it’s now ready for a new adventure.
It comes with all the necessary paperwork and is currently in working condition, though judging from the photos, the paint does need a few touches here and there to get a shiny finish.
As for the price, well, you can’t expect a Ferrari barn find to be affordable. And this really isn’t. The seller in Napa County expects to get $225,000 for the car, so if you have enough money, you know what you have to do.
