This Infiniti G37 with a Huge Touch Screen Looks Like a Tesla

Buttons appear to be so yesterday in the automotive industry, and these days everybody wants a display that is as large as possible to control everything.

And unsurprisingly, many actually want a vertical display similar to the one in the Tesla Model S and Model X, even if they’re not driving a Tesla, and this is probably the reason so many screen manufacturers started making such kits for a wide variety of models.

The dash kit we have here, for example, fits the 2010 Infiniti G37 sedan like a glove and now it not only looks like a Tesla interior, but it also seems to be the kind of feature that was installed from the factory by the carmaker.

The screen itself, which has a little over 13 inches, comes with touch support and replaces the majority of buttons, including climate controls and volume. The best of all, it also includes Apple CarPlay support, which means that you connect your iPhone for features like navigation and music playback with Spotify.

The bad news is that YouTuber GadgetWars, who presents the installed screen in the video below, didn’t manage to get the audio working – however, this is very likely to be a connection issue or just a problem with the unit itself, as everything should otherwise work correctly.

As he says, the installation is pretty much plug and play, so there’s not much you need to do other than remove the center console in your car and then follow the instructions to install the new unit. All the other systems in the car, including buttons on the steering wheel and the seats, work correctly.

Of course, such an upgrade doesn’t come cheap, and it typically costs over $500 for a high-quality unit. Depending on the size of the screen and how many systems in your car it replaces (such as climate controls, audio, and others) you could end up spending more than $1,000 for this kind of kit.
