While Tesla has its own app that allows users to interact with their EVs, the open market isn’t exactly sitting back and waiting for updates. The latest example of this comes from an Apple Watch app, whose creator claims this is the “first documented case of someone unlocking and starting a Tesla with just an Apple Watch app”.
The application offers control over plenty of areas of the Model S. From opening the car or starting it to turning on the air-conditioning and opening the charge port, there are plenty of features to use.
The app works remotely, using web communication, so you don’t need to be in the proximity of the Tesla in order for the vehicle to listen to your commands.
The project is currently in the Beta testing phase and is awaiting approval from Apple, which means that you can’t find it in the App Store, at least not for now.
The development comes from a guy called Allen Wong and his Rego Apps brand. It all started after Apple sent him one of their intelligent timepieces, with the man claiming he spent three to four days coding this.
In case you’re wondering what the developer does with the money he earns from coming up with such apps, we can tell you there somehow get... reinvested into the automotive industry. To be more precise, this man likes to buy exotics such as the Lamborghini Aventador and drive the 1s and 0s out of them. He even got a Tesla Model S P85D earlier this year, which he raced against Italian exotics before turning it into his mother’s daily driver.
PS: in case you’re watching the clip and wondering why the app says “Mobile phone charger” app on the top, you should know this is how the developer nicknamed his Tesla.
