If you’re looking for a one-of-a-kind Ford Mustang, this ‘69 Convertible might be exactly the one you want, as it’s believed to be among the first produced for this model year.
Now for sale on eBay, the ‘69 Mustang GT Convertible was a special order from the Smith & Gandy Seattle dealership and was the 11th unit manufactured by Ford in 1969.
Furthermore, Re-tired Klassics, which expects to get $59,500 for the car, claims this isn’t the only thing that makes this car so special.
“We think this is the very first s-code G.T. convertible built #100011 ‘Marti report,’” they say. “[It was] ordered 06-03-1968, 1st day production #11 built.”
The car, which has 83,511 miles (134,397 km) on the clock, has already received a series of improvements, including new door panels, carpets, exhaust system, and a rebuilt engine and transmission. It’s powered by the 390ci (6.4-liter) V8, and comes with a tiltaway steering wheel, and a 20-year-old paint with no rust.
The eBay auction, which is set to expire soon but will likely be relaunched in the coming days, has only attracted 3 bids, which is kind of surprising this is a super-rare Mustang. The top bid at the time of writing is $32,600, so it’s very unlikely to see the “Buy It Now” price reached before the time runs out.
1969 was a difficult year for the Mustang GT. Part of the first-generation Mustang, the GT version was discontinued in 1969 due to declining sales, as most buyers were more interested in other models, including the Mach 1, which made its debut during the same model year.
The Mustang Mach 1 introduced a series of new styling and performance upgrades, including an improved interior, all of them making it more appealing purchase for everyone considering a new Mustang. Ford is believed to have sold nearly 72,500 units in 1969.
