This Ford F-100 Received the Bodie Stroud Treatment and It’s Awesome

After his custom hot rod creations appeared on Jay Leno’s Garage, Hot Rod TV and Rock My RV, I imagine CEO Bodie Stroud saying to himself “it was worth leaving my corporate job in 2007 for this venture.” BS Industries’ latest creation embodies the Cali-based company’s know-how and my God doesn’t it look sweet!

I have a little secret to tell you - I’m not a big fan of the hot rod genre of customization. From my point of view, old-timers should be taken to their former glories through tedious restoration. But in the BSI X-100’s case, that doesn’t even matter.

Based on a 1956 Ford F-100 workhorse, Bodie’s shop threw its best materials available, fabrication know-how, the lot, in order to create what can be described as a definitive dream machine. Stroud is adamant that “when most people think about classic trucks, what comes to mind is usually the 1956 F-100, it's one of the most timeless designs of all time," and he’s right, you know.

“I thought, wouldn't it be cool if someone put that truck back into production, preserving the truck's basic look, but with modern suspension, a brand new Ford Racing motor and transmission, and the interior and gauges from a late-model F-150. Then we decided to just go ahead and build the X-100 as a limited run production vehicle.” How about that? Oh, and by the way, this machine is the world’s first all-new, turn-key 1956 pickup.

Thanks to a BSI-developed chassis with a high-strength boxed frame, in-house control arms, as well as a similarly BSI-grade four-link suspension at the rear, the X-100 is, indeed, all-new. In terms of grunt, customers are offered two choices:

- a 412 horsepower 5-liter Coyote V8 crate motor from Ford Racing;
- a 630 horsepower supercharged Ford Racing Aluminator 5-point-0 Coyote vee-eight.

Both are mated to a durable Ford 4R70W automatic transmission. For more information on the $180,000-plus BSI X-100, refer to the press release and don't forget to admire the damn thing in the gallery below.
