People sometimes wonder what happens when a low-stance supercar crashes into a vehicle that is considerably more gifted in terms of ground clearance, such as, say, a bus. Unfortunately, a driver in the United Arab Emirates has recently offered us an example of this.
The man was driving a Ferrari California, possibly a rental, on the Sheikh Zayed Road in Ajman when he rear-ended a bus. This was one of the rather compact busses used all over the UAE to transport workers to various sites, but the car slid under its rear structure, splitting open like a can of sardines.
Among other devastating consequences, the California’s foldable hardtop was “stowed” by the force of the impact, with the car sustaining a dramatic amount of damage. While the California is most certainly a write-off, the driver somehow managed to escape the crash without serious injuries, as zero2turbo writes.
Even the police officers who arrived at the scene of the crash couldn’t believe the man’s miraculous escape when they saw the car. Alas, a man from another vehicle was injured, but, according to the police reports, the two were described as “recovering in hospital” later in the day.
The police said the driver, who is in his 20s, was doing over 62 mph (100 km/h) in a crowed area of the city. The crash generated a massive traffic jam that, with the traffic taking hours to return to its normal state.
