Audi's RS cars are supposedly legendary, but people don't realize there haven't been that many. For example, the RS5 only stayed in a production for a short while, and there's going to be a hiatus until 2018 or so.

Development has started on the test mule, but it will take several more years for the S5 to be taken down from the top of the A5 range. The next RS5 might also be the last, considering how popular EVs are going to become, weather by will or necessity.

Back when Audi developed the 4.2-liter FSI V8 engine, Tesla was a California company that made only converted Lotus roadsters for celebrities. But now, it's a giant that rivals the biggest names regarding capital.

So even though we've shown you an RS5 before, we think you won't mind it. After all, Remco M has a reputation of coming quite close to the production look of the car.

The world has had enough of red Audi coupes; time for them to come in another color. That's why these renderings come in a more discreet shade of metallic navy blue. Combined with the satin black accents for the grille, the overall impression is more sinister.

Of course, the RS5 can't hide its secrets, not for too long. Almost all publications have written stories about the engine being an all-new twin-turbo V6. In typical Audi style, it might have slightly less power than its V8 predecessor, but more torque.

Even though the RS5 will arrive many years after the new C63 S Coupe, it might never match it for power. Something else we are concerned about is the weight. By using forced injection, Audi is adding complexity and thus weight to an already heavy vehicle.

Yet thanks to that V6, we could see this mid-sized performance car going below 4 seconds in the 0 to 100 km/h sprint.
