Believe it or not but some people still think it’s OK to leave their babies in the car, even during hot summer days, many of them saying it’s not such a tragedy if they come back in a few minutes.
Unfortunately, it is, and it’s not a secret that terrible things can happen if a baby is left unattended in a car, especially in hot weather.

But an Italian company called Filo wants to prevent the whole thing from happening, so it invented two different devices that can bug you with phone notifications whenever you leave your baby in the car. Because yes, you really shouldn’t do this, and no, it’s not alright even if you think you’ll get back quite quickly.

After launching the Tata Pad in 2020, the company has returned with a device called Tata Band, both of them using a Bluetooth connection to detect your phone and figure out if you’re close to the baby or not. When leaving the car and stepping out from the Bluetooth perimeter, causing a connection loss, the two devices first send you a notification on the phone trying to alert you the baby is alone in the vehicle.

If you don’t interact with the notification, you receive an automated call with the same purpose. And if you don’t answer, the two devices can automatically call emergency contacts and provide them with the car's location so they can rush to the vehicle and get the baby out.

The Tata Pad can be placed right on the infant seat, so it detects when the baby is sitting, while the Tata Band attaches to the seatbelt. Both use Bluetooth and come with replaceable batteries.

Presented this year at CES, Tata Band is projected to go on sale this year. On the other hand, the Tata Pad is already available for purchase with a €59.90 price tag here in Europe (that’s about $73 for our American readers).
