If you're into hot hatches like we are, you probably understood what yesterday's big reveal of the new Golf R means for the business. The fact that it uses an S3 engine with the exact same output suggest standardization, while the very clean design simple and unoffensive design is believe to help sales.
After the Golf GTI, Skoda Octavia vRS and Audi S3, the only performance model yet to be revealed in the VAG family is the SEAT Leon Cupra. It will reportedly be slightly sportier than the Golf GTI, with 260 latino-flavored horsepower.
The Spanish company is also considering a hot estate model, and rendered Virtuel-Car has created a graphic interpretation of this car using the Leon ST press photos. He added a subtle body kit and a large diffuser at the back, together with a gaping centrally mounted exhaust.
While Ford also has a hot estate on sale, the Cupra will have something Ford can't offer: a DSG gearbox.
If you want a latin-flavored estate that will do 250 km/h, this is going to be your car. Just don't expect to have that diffuser.
