This Colorado Mansion Comes With 100-Car Museum Bigger Than the Actual House

You know you’re a reputable car collector when your garage (or auto gallery) is bigger than the actual house you’re living in. Former race driver Richard Berry certainly is.

Sometime last year, Richard Berry listed his Colorado home for sale, for a $20 million asking price. This is no regular home, though: on paper, it sounds like a bachelor pad on steroids, but it’s actually a family home, and every bit of it inspires awe.

Thunder Ridge Home is situated on top of a mountain outside of Denver, Colorado, and actually consists of two separate buildings, each representing a separate piece of real estate. The home comes with all the luxury amenities you’d expect for this kind of price, including a Star Trek-themed private cinema, a pool with grotto fashioned after the one Hugh Hefner had built at the Playboy mansion, a beauty parlor, spa area and vast living quarters.

The garage is in a league of its own. At 30,000 square feet (2,787 square meters), it’s actually bigger than the entire house (which measures 24,000 square feet / 2,229 square meters) and can easily house a total of 100 vehicles. Berry used it for his own personal collection, which included one of the very first Bugatti Veyrons ever made, along with other exotics and classics.

The price doesn’t include Berry’s collection, sadly. However, the future owner does get the climate-controlled garage, with its very own wash station and gas station, concert venue-grade audio system, theater lighting for display bays, lifts, ports for charging electric vehicles, and living quarters and an office upstairs. Should the future owner decide to hire staff to take care of the collection in the garage, there’s a full kitchen, a bedroom and two bathrooms.

The two-story mansion is situated at some distance from the garage, and comes with a massive driveway, so guests won’t have to do much walking to get inside. It comprises seven bedrooms and 14 bathrooms in total, with the master bedroom occupying the entire upper level. It comes with a sprawling master bath decked in marble, his and hers walk-in closets, and stunning 360-degree views.

Downstairs, there’s a personal, spacious movie theater modeled after the deck of USS Enterprise on Star Trek, so there’s a little something for movie / TV fans as well. The chairs are made to resemble Captain Kirk’s and fake control panels with glowing buttons line the walls. The chairs sync with the movie playing on screen, to deliver the ultimate immersive viewing experience.

The lower level also includes a professional-style grooming salon, where owner and guests can get haircuts and blowouts, or mani-pedis. It pales in comparison to the relaxation area, which includes an indoor pool with grotto and mummified palm trees and a Tiki bar, modeled after the Playboy grotto where Hugh Hefner would entertain celebrities at some of the most outrageous parties of the ‘90s.

The indoor pool comes with a fake “sky” but you won’t be pining away for the real deal: glass doors open to the outside and an infinity pool that looks out towards the mountains.

A wine cellar and tasting room are situated nearby. The lower level comes with its own industrial-grade kitchen with a massive adjoining dining area. Another, more formal dining area is also available, ideal for fancy dinner parties.

The home has been listed with LIV Sotheby’s International Realty and is yet to secure a buyer. When it does finally sell, assuming it does so for the current price of $20 million ($19,999,000, to be more precise), it will set a record for the area.

“With nearly 360-degree views, this meticulously curated sanctuary elevates true luxury by combining the best materials with an inspired vision to create a pampered and thriving existence. Inspired design and stunning architecture marry to create energy and flow for this [home],” the listing says.

“The home itself benefits from an attentiveness towards Feng Shui and a commitment towards precision engineering. The security needs of the truly discerning are addressed & technology plays a dramatic role in entertaining all who encounter it,” the listing adds.

All this sounds great. But not half as great as the promise of a 100-car auto hangar that’s bigger and way cooler than the actual house.
