A 1968 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible (C3) that’s one of the first ever manufactured is certainly something that you don’t find every day.
And yet, the model that we have here was built in the first month after the production of the ’68 C3 started, and what’s more, it can be yours if you win the eBay auction that kicked off this week.
Described by the seller as an “automotive time capsule,” this Corvette was originally owned by someone who was deployed to Vietnam and never returned, so someone else purchased it from his family.
“The 2nd owner has owned it ever since here in south Florida. As the year went by the owner became a family man and the Corvette was set aside to being a place to keep boxes and items in or on. Finally as family grew the crown jewel was sent packing and to the outside of the house covered and a sleep,” the seller explains.
The car has a surprisingly low mileage, as the odometer indicates 11,822 miles (19,025 kilometers) on the clock, and this is the first time it goes on sale.
The Corvette still starts and runs and comes with a clear title, as everyone can see in the photo gallery.
Needless to say, it’s not necessarily in the best condition, and the seller explains that it’s the right purchase for anyone who wants to restore it.
“This is a incredible once in a lifetime opportunity to own a automotive time capsule. You can have a restorod with a new crate motor or perform a frame off restoration or even better make it a original non restore driver,” they say.
At the time of writing, the highest bid is $4,150 with just 13 offers, but there’s no doubt the price will increase as the listing gains more exposure. There are over 130 watchers for this eBay auction right now.
