What is a sleeper? Well, if I’m not wrong, it’s a word used to describe a car that looks stock or almost completely stock on the outside but hides a plethora of changes under the bonnet that allow it to smoke unsuspecting rival drivers. That’s right, it’s the worst or the greatest creation in the automotive world, depending on which side you’re on.
If you’re one of those guys that buys an M5 and goes around thrashing people and being all cocky everywhere you go, you deserve to get slapped by a sleeper every once in a while. You’ll also be one of the people thinking that this is the worst kind of car out there.

On the other hand, if you’re a true gearhead and you love working on your car, upgrading it as you see fit and yet keeping it stock on the outside, you’re on the other side of the fence. You probably think sleepers are the greatest thing ever.

Well, a little modesty killed no one and that’s what sleepers are all about: teaching you a lesson in modesty. This 335i is definitely a sleeper.

The car has had a Burger Motorsports JB4 tune installed for the N54 engine and also got an Evolution Racewerks Competition Series intercooler to keep the air nice and cool. Evolution Racewerks also provided the twin oil cooler upgrade while Macht Schnell made sure the air flow towards the rear of the car isn’t blocked off in any way with its catless downpipes.

This 335i now has around 380 HP and 400 lb-ft (542 Nm) at the wheels which isn’t bad at all considering the stock car used to make 300 HP and 295 lb-ft (400 Nm) at the crank... We’re guessing even the F80 M3 might be in trouble here...
