This Awesome Eclipse Picture is Brought to You By a Land Rover's Off-Road Skills

Don't worry, tomorrow is Wednesday and everyone will have forgotten about the big eclipse, meaning the Sun and the Moon's trick will slide out of the spotlight and things will return to the way they were before.

But today it's Tuesday, the day after the total solar eclipse, so you'll have to bear with it for a little longer. It's the same as the Monday after a new Game of Thrones episode (one that doesn't get leaked, at least): everyone has to talk about it.

Not Land Rover. The British off-road specialist (with an increasingly obvious touch of luxury lately) thought it would be better to let an image speak for itself, and it chose adventure photographer Alex Strohl to provide the necessary picture.

We're going to go out on a limb here and say the carmaker made an excellent choice. In fact, we would appreciate it if you could provide the link to a better still capture of the cosmic event that could be observed yesterday above the U.S.A. But until somebody does it, we're going to call Alex's take the best one we've seen so far.

Seeing the Moon in its entirety is a pretty rare thing in itself - given how it only happens once a month - but seeing it against a blue sky with a halo around it? If this image came before Lars von Trier's 'Melancholia' movie, we would have said it served as his inspiration. But it didn't.

Alex went out of Salt Lake City heading for Railroad Ridge, which is where the Land Rover Discovery he drove came in. His destination is an off-road trail in the midst of Sawtooth National Forest that goes as high as 10,000 feet (3,050 meters) in the air, offering gorgeous vistas and unique photo opportunities. Of which he took full advantage.
