Did you know there’s a website counting the time until Marty McFly and Doc Brown get back to the future? As we all know, that moment is two days from now. We’ve seen plenty of marketing gigs that are trying to build something around that moment - just think of Toyota Mirai’s official launch in the U.S - but nothing beats this scaled model DeLorean that levitates.
First and foremost, a 1/20 scaled DeLorean Time Machine is about 22 centimeters (8.66 inches) long, but it’s not about the size with this collectible. Oh, no, what truly brings excitement on the face of this petrolhead is the fact that you can put it on the desk, right next to your McFly hat, as it levitates all day long.

Well, we don’t know how much time it levitates actually, nor do we know if it needs batteries, or if you can plug it into a regular outlet. That is because the DeLorean Time Machine from Back To The Future II has yet to hit production. In fact, what you see in the image above is a prototype toy from manufacturer Kids Logic, unveiled at the 17th Choice of Animation, Comics & Games Expo, in Hong Kong earlier this summer.

We’ve looked it up on several toy shops online and only found a couple of places where you can still pre-order one. Even if you do manage to do that, proper amounts of patience are needed, since the release date is set for the 3rd quarter of 2016.

It may not be entirely made of metal, but considering we are looking at a magnetic field, we can’t but assume that it has to have some iron or similar metal inside. LEDs will outline the vital parts while the deck looks smooth and futuristic. Depending on where you get it from, prices start at $200 and could get close to 300 bucks.

We’re not quite sure if it’s the first of the kind in the DeLorean toy series, but we did stumble upon a similar thing that rather looks like a hand-made type of stuff. There’s a video below that shows how it works.
