Sure, we’ve seen the world talking quite a lot about US’ plan to donate the military’s older vehicles to local police quarters, especially ever since the Ferguson riot grew in proportion. But we might have stumbled upon a vehicle which is even more dreadful than the Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP).
Ever since police responded to protestors in Ferguson, Missouri with tear gas, armored military trucks and riot gear, some of the military vehicles received by different schools around the country were being sent back.
Similar gestures would be reported around the country and we all know about the people marching in cities like New York recently, asking for the police to stop using excessive force when it’s not necessary. All this considered, we’re assuming people are slowly understanding that military vehicles such as grenade launchers should never be used by district police offices.
There already are plenty of other armored vehicles designed for such situations. One of those machines is The Rook Vehicle.
Designed and fabricated by Ring Power Corporation, the North and Central Florida Caterpillar dealer, it’s built from a Cat chassis and contains special features such as rubber tracks, dual joystick controls, cameras, gun port holes, rear and front lights and an enclosed cabin with air conditioning/heat.
It’s a was specially created to protect police officers that deal with the worst case scenario, such as hostage rescues, barricaded suspects, riot scenes or natural disasters. Designed with an “Armored Deployment Platform” which allows officers to approach a structure without covering open exposed ground foot, The Rook comes with a integrated video system that gives visibility into areas that small robotic video cameras cannot access.
