This 1989 Dodge Daytona ES Is an Impeccable Classic, Still Has the New Car Smell

Women are notoriously fickle and look no further for proof of that than the excellent condition of this 1989 Dodge Daytona ES. It’s one of those rare times when a woman’s fickleness has a positive outcome.

If you’re in the market for an affordable classic that is in mint condition as well, this could be your shot. You know what they say, start the New Year fresh. Well, it doesn’t get fresher than this.

Out of Morgantown, Pennsylvania, someone is selling a 1989 Dodge Daytona ES that is a literal time capsule. It’s all original, has hardly been driven, and is in such mint condition it still has that new car smell inside. And it’s all thanks to the original intended owner, who was a woman.

Listed with James Edition, this Daytona ES was bought by a gentleman in upstate New York for his wife, who had specifically asked for “a sporty car with a 5-speed transmission.” Based on her request, he thought she’d love the Daytona ES, which she did… for about two weeks. After that, she realized she didn’t like driving stick after all, and she refused to get at the wheel anymore.

Luckily, the husband chose to store the car, and he did so in a heated garage in which he also kept his Corvette collection. The car would only be driven occasionally until 2017, when it was sold off to the current owner (and seller), who put another 100 miles (161 km) on it. In total, it shows only 2,177 miles (3,504 km) on the clock.

It has a custom paint job in red and custom gray interior with matching headliner and carpets, not to mention the ES snowflake wheels and original tires. It’s a nice and quite elegant ride, powered by a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine. It's also free of the tiniest trace of rust, according to the listing, working just perfectly and performing like a new car.

If you have $18,500 to spare, it could be yours.
