This 1975 Basketball-Inspired Volkswagen Beetle Didn't Meet the Reserve

How big of a classic car enthusiast are you? Big enough to put the car before any NBA match? If you can’t really make up your mind on neither of the two, we might have found a proper solution to that. It takes the form of a 1975 Volkswagen Beetle that has only 800 miles on board and comes with a basketball goal attached.

What you see above is not a joke event though it might appear like some sort of a failed tuning job done somewhere back in the 80s. It’s a classic Beetle designed to look like a basketball and has a built in basketball goal because it was never actually used as a car. In fact, even though we’re looking at a 40-year old vehicle this puppy only drove for 809 miles precisely.

According to the seller (whose ad on eBay did not meet the reserve unfortunately) this classic German ride was used for schools and colleges at basketball games as a promotional vehicle for Sprite in the 1970s. It even comes with a cooler in the front where the sodas were kept and given out at NBA games.

Like all this wasn’t good enough to make us buy it, the car also was equipped with some nice pair of hydraulics in order to simulate the car bouncing.

This Beetle is almost saying out loud “Bounce you’re way to the top of the NBA championship!”. The car is priced at $5,000 which is quite a bargain considering we are looking at a classic vehicle with barely no mileage. On the other hand, there’s going to be some decent bit of work to do before you could actually drive it on road if that even is possible at all.
