Social media might have gifted the custom car culture with wings and yet the tons and tons of modding efforts that took place back in the day can't be forgotten. As such, coming across a 1968 Dodge Charger with a pretty sweet spec, which is one of just 259 units for the said year and which still features the factory configuration, is no small feat.
The Mopar gem we have here is animated by the 4-barrel version of the 383 V8 and, more importantly, packs a 4-speed manual, all with a fender tag, which comes to reinforce the rarity number mentioned in the intro. And, if we factor in the eye-catching color combo of the machine, it looks like we're dealing with a gem.
It was 2003 when this Charger was taken into a barn in Albuquerque, New Mexico and the car just sat there until it was rescued earlier this week - as you'll notice in the second Instagram post below, at least some of its garage years were spent together with a Mopar sibling, namely a Plymouth Barracuda.
The vehicle didn't run when it was placed on a trailer, but its previous owner stated that a new fuel pump was all it would take to bring that good old American motor back to life. Well, as showcased in the third social media post below, the man was telling the truth, so please turn up the volume before heading over to that "play" button.
Of course, we'd like to know if this 68 Charger was rescued for personal use or whether the Dodge will be up for grabs. Nothing has been mentioned so far, but the first Insta post below, which brought the muscle car to our attention, mentions its saviors, so it's not hard for any interested party to get in touch with these no-cape heroes.
