Even for a bowhead whale, whose lifespan can go north of 200 years, forty years qualifies as a lot of time. Well, that's how much this 1967 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 reportely spent locked inside a barn. Fortunately, though, the muscle car's time has come, with the machine receiving the much-needed love these days.
The GT500 we're talking about is currently in the hands of GC Cooling, a company that handles fans and it looks like its restoration is going smoothly.

Then again, if we judge by what we can see in the social media posts at the bottom of the page, which come from the said specialist, it appears that the 'Stang was in decent shape, at least given the circumstances. Oh, and while the company mentions a hibernation of over two decades in a different post, the conclusion in the intro still stands.

In fact, one of the posts brings the good old before and after take: the first obviously refers to the out-of-the-barn state of the vehicle, while the latter showcases and intermediate step.

Now, perhaps you've seen the wheel transformation and are worried - there's no reason to fret, since the company explains the factory shoes will return to the Mustang once suitable tires make their way into the equation.

By the looks of it, the classic piece of America should come out to play later this year and we can't wait to see its final form.

While it might not appear so to those outside the classic muscle car realm, the 1967 GT500 packs quite a few cruiser attributes to go with its massive 428ci (7.0-liter V8). So, in spite of coming with a $200 premium over the more track-focused GT350, the GT500 enjoyed more generous sales (here's a tale about an imaginary future of the badge, which also involves extra details about its past).
