In the early ‘60s, the Corvette switched to four taillights, a lighting motif that carried over to the sixth generation of the breed. The American sports car we’ll talk about today isn’t an original, though. Instead, you’re looking at a custom build that features the hydroformed chassis of a 2003 model.
Listed by Mecum Auctions from the Jack Wright Collection, the retro-modern roadster comes courtesy of Classic Reflection Coachworks. These guys produced more than 225 custom cars over the course of 16 years, but as fate would have it, the business went bust because of the health crisis.

Expected to fetch anything between $75,000 to $90,000 at auction, the CRC Corvette is offered at no reserve. Based on the limited production run and sheer attention to detail that goes into every build, I wouldn’t be surprised if this beige-painted cruiser will hammer for the estimated price.

Beautified by white coves, the soft-topped sports car features the classic Corvette script on the valve covers of the LS1 small-block V8. The first member of the LS family is good for 350 horsepower and 375 pound-feet (508 Nm) of torque, and top speed is rated at 175 mph (282 kph).

Instead of the torque-converter automatic, this CRC Corvette rocks a BorgWarner T-56 six-speed manual transmission with Computer-Aided Gear Selection. Mecum Auctions doesn’t mention if a defeat device has been installed, but fret not because plug-and-play solutions cost up to $20.

Goodyear Eagle F1 tires wrap five-spoke wheels that match the finish of the body, and as expected, the centrally-mounted exhaust tips have been chromed to match the bumpers. With the exception of the sill plates and a custom touch to the top of the door panels, the cabin is pretty much stock.

The question is, would you be tempted by this bad boy if you had $90,000 to burn? Looking at the bigger picture, that's more than enough moolah for a brand-new C8 with the Z51 package, E60 front lift, and 3LT goodies.
