The third-generation Ford F-Series was manufactured for just four years between 1956 and 1960, and it was available with a choice of three engines, namely the 223 ci (3.7-liter) Mileage Maker l6, the 272 ci (4.5-liter) Y-Block V8, and the 292 ci (4.8-liter) Y-Block V8.
The F-600 that we have here is one of the trucks that came with the most powerful engine in the entire lineup, only that a custom upgrade that converted it into a rat rod brought a new powerplant too.
Once a standard ’59 F-600 manufactured in Brazil (Ford relocated the production of the F-Series to several other plants in 1957), the truck that you see here is now a true rat rod that’s powered by a Detroit Diesel 6V53T paired with an automatic 4-speed transmission. Needless to say, the car isn’t supposed to reach insane speeds, but according to the owner, it’s still capable of going as high as 55 mph (88.5 km/h).
This F-600 has gone through a massive transformation process to become the rat rod that it is today.
The frame itself has been blasted and reinforced, while the suspension has been upgraded with an inverted leaf spring and 4-link system on the front, with the original dual-leaf configuration still being used on the back.
A series of parts have also been replaced, including the springs and the braking system. The F-600 now features a 4-gallon (15-liter) tank and LED lights pretty much everywhere except for the headlights.
On the other hand, it comes without a speedometer, and the owner explains that in order to get such information while driving, they use a smartphone with a dedicated app – for example, navigation apps like Google Maps can indicate the real-time speed based on GPS data.
All in all, this is a one of a kind Ford F-600 that has found a new purpose, and the good news is that you can be the next one to own it. The truck is for sale on eBay for just $25,500.
