This 171-Feet Superyacht Is a “Sportfisher on Steroids”

As sportfishing shows no sign of slowing down in the U.S., more and more yachts are coming out to sail. When you enter the game of big fishing boats, you have to make waves, and what better way to do them than with a luxurious yacht. Project 406 is a superyacht that promises to deliver plenty of space for both fishing and relaxing.

With over 7.000 completed projects under the belt, Vripack Yacht Design has announced its new vessel design. It’s called Project 406, and according to them, it’s going to be the world’s largest sportfishing yacht.

The aluminum construction is in the hands of Royal Huisman, a Dutch shipyard whose expertise in boats began in 1884. The yacht is designed to have six decks and a hull, and it will measure 171ft (52 meters) in length. It will also include high bulwarks to protect the vessel from high waves and maintain stability.

Among the luxe amenities, there is a sky lounge from where you can see all the fishing action on the deck. “Project 406 possesses the finesse of a contemporary superyacht and the performance of a high caliber sportfisher,” we're told. Vripack will be the ones to handle the interior and exterior design of the superyacht.

Being a sportfish yacht, it promises to come with an aft fishing area, rod holders, and plenty of storage room equipment.

“Project 406 is a sportfisher on steroids. It has the true proportions and long flaring bow of a typical American sportfish boat paired with the harmonious feel of a luxurious superyacht. It’s a supersized model with super chic curves, realized on a grand scale,” says Vripack Co-Creative Director Bart M. Bouwhuis.

The 30 knots motor yacht is expected to be completed in 2023, so if you love both fishing and relaxing in a sky lounge, this project will spark your interest for sure.
