Think City Finds Success in Spain

The single electric vehicle available on the market today in large numbers, the Think City, is selling like hotcakes in Spain, a market which last year was on the brink of collapse due to the economic crisis.

Even if selling like hotcakes means an entirely different thing for the EV world, the Think City is proving it can do wonders for its producer. With the help of Going Green, Think's local distributor, the plan is to make sales go even better.

Going Green will benefit from an incentive launched by the Madrid City Council. Dubbed Madrid Avisa!, the incentive allows for a 72-hour rapid response in case of car trouble. The interventions are made using Think City EVs and electric scooters.

The electric car has been purchased, in various quantities, by several companies, including Iberdrola, one of the biggest electricity suppliers in Europe, Cochele, a car sharing company, ING Car Lease and Zardoya Otis.

“Electric vehicle sales got off to a modest start in Spain, but now that the THINK City is readily available and fully air-conditioned, the Spanish appetite for the world’s best-selling electric car is growing fast,” said Michael Lock, Think chief marketing officer.

“Thanks to the adoption of the City in excellent new schemes such as Madrid Avisa we look forward to THINK becoming synonymous with EV success across Spain."

The Think can achieve a top speed of only 100 km/hour (62 mph) and sprints from naught to 62 mph in 6.5 seconds. During summer and with the heater off, Think can travel in between 170 km (105 miles) and 203 km (126 miles).
