Yet unknown culprits caused serious damage to a Kia dealership in the city of Zoetermeer, the Netherlands. Under the cover of darkness, they robbed the Korean car showroom in Edelgasstraat this Saturday and caused serious property damage.
A total of five brand new cars that were sitting in the dealer's parking lot were vandalized and had their wheels stolen. In addition, the windows on two cars were broken to gain access to the interior. The modus operandi should be familiar to anybody who's had his wheels nicked: jack up the car, take the wheels and leave it on bricks.
Three cee'd hatchbacks (though they could be estates as well), a Rio supermini and Sorento SUV. According to Regio15.np, the damage amounts to several thousands of euros and could also mean a delay on customer deliveries while repairs are made. Some of the cars still have blue foam blocks on them, which are used to protect the paint before a delivery is made.
The criminals obviously knew exactly what they were doing. The robbery took place at night on a weekend, when the employees weren't there. However, the dealership is located in a business park, right next to the road. A large group was probably involved, considering they stole 20 large and heavy rims without anybody ever noticing.
Local police is currently investigating the theft. If you live in the Netherlands and find 5 brand new sets of wheels for sale, you might want to let them know.
