Abbotsford Police is warning all wannabe car thieves to change careers and go for something legal, because they’re always running the risk of taking one of the police bait cars they have throughout British Columbia, Canada.
A few days ago, the police department posted an older video of how bait cars work to take car thieves off the street and into police custody. These 3 thieves, 1 man (the driver) and 2 women, were caught at the McDonald’s Drive-Thru, where they had stopped for a bite to eat.
Needless to say, they never got to enjoy their fast-food meal. But they did manage to have one final, Bonnie and Clyde-type of kiss before they were put in handcuffs, so yeah for true romance.
The video is available at the bottom of the page, as it was posted on the department’s official Twitter. It starts right after the 3 had taken the car and shows how thrilled they were. The woman sitting in the front passenger seat, aka Bonnie, is particularly happy, telling her man that she feels like her life has taken a sudden turn for the best.
She’s also the one who suggests stopping at the Drive-Thru because she’s starving, and can’t stop talking about how awesome their new ride is. It even has a nearly full tank of gas, go figure!
Then, as she tries to put on the radio, the engine cuts off. “What did you do?,” the driver asks her, right before realizing that they’d walked into a trap. “Yeah, we’re in a bait car,” he adds with what feels like a note of resignation in his voice.
Next up, the police are urging them to put their hands up and to slowly come out of the car. They do as they’re told, but not before the woman tells the driver, “Give me a kiss, babe,” before pulling him in an embrace. Told you, true love ain’t dead.

When these car thieves stole a Bait Car, their first thought was to hit the drive thru. Watch the @AbbyPoliceDept make swift work of this auto theft in a rather embarrassing location.
