One woman and her husband put on an incredible, brave fight when a couple of thieves attacked them outside their business in Texas.
The woman had just returned from the bank, where she’d made a $75,000 withdrawal, Harris County Constable Precinct 4 says in a press release accompanying CCTV footage of the attack. She’d just parked her car in front of her and her husband’s business, had gotten out of her car and was about to go in the door when one of the suspects launched at her.

The two thieves had followed the woman from the bank in separate cars. The first thief jumped out of the car and lunged at the woman, grabbing her purse, which she refused to let go. Her husband observed the fight from inside and came out to defend her, physically engaging the suspect.

A very violent scuffle ensued, when a second car, identified by the police as a black Chrysler 300, pulled in the parking lot. A second male got out – and started attacking the couple, too. It turns out that he was in cahoots with the first suspect, and he eventually used his car to get the woman to let go of her purse, backing it until he ran over her and hit her husband.

The two victims were rushed to the hospital: the woman is in critical condition, according to the authorities. The first suspect, identified as 31-year-old Davis Dowell Mitchell, is in police custody and is being held without bail. He has been charged with felony aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon, and is due back in court this week.

The second suspect, who drove up in the black Chrysler, is still in the wind. He has been identified as Travonn Johnson, and is a convicted felon with a very impressive rap sheet. He too will be charged with aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon, and given his record, will face a long stretch behind bars.

Police have recovered the stolen money when they apprehended Mitchell.
