Back in the day when oil accounted for 24% of Dubai’s GDP yet the Police was still using regular cars, the luxury sportscars were already getting into the force. It was long before you’d see the bad guys being chased by a Ferrari FF, Bugatti Veyron, Nissan GT-R and McLaren MP4-12C driving fast on Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road. And we're not talking about the UAE, but Europe.
It might look funny, but believe it or not this 1989 Porsche 911 did in fact belonged to the police fleet in The Netherlands. Originally built for the Holland force, this Porsche 911 3.2 Targa was once part of a bigger car collection of the Stuttgart-made sportscars. In fact, it appears the European Kingdom was quite fond of the car model, since it would frequently buy Porsche cars between 1962 and 1991. I bet you didn’t know that!

As to the vehicle in question, we stumbled upon it completely accidental and as far as we could find out, it was on sale about two years ago. However, the engine was replaced by another 3.2 flat-six due to it being completely damaged.

If there’s any chance you’ll be spending some time in The Netherlands you should look for it or maybe to a similar model, since the car also came with an official exemption letter from the Dutch police which says the buyer can drive it as a historical car.

No word on how much it sold for, nor if you’re also allowed to use the sirens every now and then, but we’re pretty sure the last is out of discussion. Full points for the looks though!
