High-profile celebrities, whether they’re from showbiz, the film or music industry, or sports, are accustomed to getting stuff for free. That’s not a secret, nor was it ever meant to be.
However, even they can sometimes be taken aback by a truly outrageous present or freebie, like a very expensive or very rare car. They will pose with it, brag about it on social media, drive it for a short while and then forget all about it (or, worse, sell it). Such a waste of a beautiful machine.

Conor McGregor & Rolls Royce Ghost

Conor McGregor remains one of the highest-paid (if not actually the highest paid) athlete in contact sports. He is handsome, he is rich and he is a beast in the ring, so he has built for himself an image that is part annoying, part loud and part flashy. Unlike many other celebrities, though, he does have a certain elegance about his person and everything he buys, which made him the perfect fit for Rolls Royce.

So, what do you get a man who seemingly has everything? You get him a car, but you have to find one that will be better than whatever else he has stuffed in his garage already. So, in 2016, Rolls Royce gave McGregor, aka The Notorious, a Ghost with his face on it. Because he wasn’t flashy enough, apparently.

The Ghost costs upwards of $250,000 and reports say that Rolls Royce sank another $100,000 in customization, including the giant decal with his face and the word “Notorious.” It is believed that this was an actual gift to McGregor and not an official endorsement.

Floyd Mayweather & Bugatti Veyron

You didn’t think there would be no Floyd Mayweather entry on this list, did you? After all, the man’s car collection alone is believed to be worth more than $16 million, and this estimate is based solely on his social media posts.

Mayweather loves everything outrageously expensive: cars, jewelry, watches, real estate and fashion. So, sometime in 2016, he headed out and treated himself not to one, but 2 Bugatti Veyrons. Because no one buys you presents better than the ones you buy yourself. One of these Bugattis was the last of its kind to be shipped to the U.S., of which only 150 items were made: the Grand Sport Vitesse in Satin Black, and it is believed to have set him back anything from $3.3 to $3.5 million.

Mayweather kept this “toy” in his garage for about 2 years, before putting it up for sale on eBay, for a little under $4 million. It only had 1,041 miles on the clock, so yes, it’s safe to say most mortals’ dream car is just a piece of garage furniture for this avid collector of beautiful, shiny things.

Blac Chyna & Lamborghini Huracan

In the rarefied atmosphere of showbiz, luxury cars are the new language of romance. Sadly, their owners end up appreciating them for about as long as their relationships or marriages last, which is something longer than an eye-blink but shorter than a yawn.

Reality star and sock designer (yes, there is such a thing) Rob Kardashian dated former stripper turned influencer Blac Chyna for about a year, starting in early 2016. Their relationship spawned a brand new reality show, an engagement, a child and insane amounts of media coverage – but it also got a new supercar into Chyna’s garage.

At some point, despite reports claiming he was broke and living off the family’s name, Rob decided to truly show his love for his lady by treating her to a brand new car. He opted for a purple metallic Lamborghini Huracan which set him back about $200,000. The Huracan was a beauty and an eye-popper at the same time, and Chyna was in love with it… for about as long as she was with Kardashian. In 2017, she returned the Lambo (and a Ferrari and the engagement ring) to Rob, when they broke up, saying “he couldn’t buy me.”

Kanye West & Lamborghini Aventador

A second Kardashian on our list, this time the most famous one: in 2012, just months after they started dating, Kim Kardashian bought her new man (and current husband), him-with-the-Jesus-comparisons Kanye West, a brand new Lamborghini Aventador.

This wasn’t just any Lambo, mind you: it was the 700hp Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 in a slick black matte finish, for which she shilled out $750,000. Kanye was thrilled with the birthday surprise and, as it so happened, the paparazzi were on hand to document his every reaction.

The enthusiasm didn’t last long, though: after driving it less than 2,000 miles, Kanye sold the Lambo for under $450,000.

Chris Evans & 1967 Chevrolet Camaro

With friends like these, who needs enemies other friends? Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans may not always get along onscreen in the Avengers movies, but they were pretty tight in real life. In fact, they were so tight that Downey bought Evans a car to celebrate the final installment in the franchise.

It’s not uncommon for actors to get wrapping presents from a film’s producer(s), director or even from the leading man / lady. Still, Downey’s gesture takes the crown: he bought Evans a 1967 Chevrolet Camaro customized with an Avengers theme that included Captain America’s shield on the steering wheel.

Camaro: $275,000. Evans’ joy: priceless.

Johnny Depp & 1959 Corvette

Because being one of the highest-paid actors in the world is not enough, Johnny Depp also gets the most awesome freebies. In 2011, he starred in The Rum Diary, a movie based on a novel by Hunter S. Thomson, which he would have probably done for free since he’s friends with the author.

But, when production ended, Depp drove away in the stunning 1959 red Corvette roadster used in the making of the film – a gift from producer Graham King. King later told the media that it was only fitting that Depp keep the car, given the amount of hard work and talent he had put in the role.

The bad news is that the movie tanked, as did his romance with his co-star Amber Heard some months later. The even worse news is that the beautiful Corvette is probably gathering dust in Depp’s garage because he’s never seen driving it.
