Celebrities, they’re just like us. Lol, jk. Celebrities are anything but that: they have more money than we could dream of, live in beautiful houses and afford to change cars and other means of transport more frequently than some of us change socks.
But sometimes, buying a very expensive or maybe even a very rare car is not enough. What if the peasants don’t recognize it for what it is, what if they can’t tell what it is because it stands out? Enter some of the most recent, eye-catching and crazy paint jobs on celebrity cars.

Justin Bieber’s pink Lamborghini Urus

Justin Bieber is a young man with very little taste but lots of money to burn. Literally. The guy is 24 years old and is believed to have amassed a fortune of $265 million already: he could hang up his mike for good right now and he still wouldn’t have to work a single day in his life, even if he continued spending a lot of money on new cars.

So, he’s got cash to burn. He spends a lot on sweet rides and then spends some more on customizing them, sometimes to the most surprising (and not in a good way) results. Just in the past couple of years, he was seen driving a leopard-print Audi R8 and a horrid-looking chrome Fisker Karma (with underbody LED lights, no less).

If you thought he couldn’t top this, you’re wrong. As of August 2018, he is the proud owner of a Lamborghini Urus in bright pink. He bought it in black for about $250,000, but apparently, it wasn’t fancy enough, so he had it painted all over in the most glaring, Barbie-esque pink you can imagine. Does that make him any less of a man? No, but it certainly makes the car uglier.

JoJo Siwa’s Tesla Model X with dozens of photos of her face

If you don’t know who JoJo Siwa is, you’re probably too old or too uncool. She is a 16-year-old singer, actress, dancer, fashion designer and television personality, with millions of fans around the world from all platforms and about $10 million in personal fortune.

She doesn’t seem like the kind who would make headlines for the cars she buys, yet she does. She first did so when she posted on social media about the customized BMW she got for Christmas, which featured a paint job incorporating her own face and plenty of glitter and pink, and Justin Bieber (out of all people) suggested she should burn it.

He was eventually pressured into apologizing to her, because people were outrage he would “bully” a teenager. He had a point about the BMW though: it was horrid-looking.

Some months later, friends gifted JoJo a Tesla Model X with dozens of photos of her own face on it, rainbow spoke wheels, and seats upholstered in different colors. If the Model X is not enough to draw attention, this type of customization certainly will.

File this under “kids these days.”

Chris Brown’s Hot Wheels Lamborghini Gallardo

Performer and controversial star Chris Brown is also a graffiti artist, and he loves powerful cars, especially if they’re customized to his own liking. His collection includes a Bugatti Veyron, a graffiti Porsche Panamera, a Dodge Viper SRT, a “Jet Fighter” Lamborghini Gallardo, a Range Rover, a Porsche 911 Turbo, a Tupac Shakur-themed Lamborghini Gallardo, an orange Lamborghini and a 2019 Lamborghini Huracan that glows in the dark and changes colors.

Yes, Brown loves Lambos. Brown loves Lambos with daring, out of the ordinary paint jobs that help him get the attention he seems to covet so much.

Back in 2013, Brown took everyone’s childhood dreams and laughed in their face, when he had West Coast Customs turn his Gallardo into a life-size Hot Wheels. For as long as he drove that car, he called it El Toro, which was pretty neat and on point, too.

Flo Rida’s gold-wrapped Bugatti Veyron

When rapper Flo Rida got his Bugatti Veyron for $1.7 million (i.e. on the cheap), he probably thought it wasn’t flashy enough. He drove it in his original color, a pearlescent white, for a while, but then had it custom wrapped by Florida’s Metro Wrapz, whose motto is “Go chrome or go home.”

This time, the rapper chose gold chrome. Because nothing screams good taste like a gold chrome-wrapped hypercar. To keep with the theme, he also had gold-plated wheels from Forgiato installed.

Deadmau5’s Nyan Cat Ferrari

Considering this entry comes from a guy who wears a giant mouse head over his own during concerts, it’s not exactly surprising: back in 2013, Deadmau5 was driving a Ferrari 458 Spider with a wrap job of the Nyan Cat.

Nyan Cat is a 2011 meme with a cartoon cat with a body of a Pop-tart, set to a Japanese pop song. As the cat soars through the air into space, it leaves a rainbow trail behind.

Deadmau5 called his tricked-out Ferrari the “Purrari” (it even featured custom badges and floor mats with Purrari logos), and it got so much media attention at the time that Ferrari issued him a cease and desist letter. Deadmau5 was terribly upset about it and said on social media that he had unwrapped the car as a result of the letter. Some time later, he put it up for sale for $380,000, but not before racing it through Europe during the Gumball 3000 international motor rally.

He would eventually get a Nissan GTR free from Nissan, also with the Nyan Cat-themed wrap. However, despite the musician’s claims that he had unwrapped the Purrari, as of 2017, when it emerged again on the market, it still featured the custom wrap. Its price had dropped to $235,000, but it was still in excellent condition.

Honorable mention: Britney Spears’ pink Hummer H2

Sometime in the early aughts, when she could still drive her own car without permission from her conservator dad, Britney Spears got herself a 2005 Hummer H2. Now, Hummers were never the most discrete cars, but Britney still wanted a bit more from hers. So she turned it Barbie pink.

Moreover, she included it in the video for her “Do Somethin’” single, which she co-directed and that landed her in the cross-hairs with Louis Vuitton, since it featured a counterfeit LV dashboard with the designer house’s Cherry Blossoms design. In the video, Brit drove the Hummer, which was overflowing with cash and guitars, through the clouds, putting it on autopilot so she could toss her hair in tandem with her backup dancers.

The video was eventually banned in European countries and cost the record label a reported 80,000 euro in damages, when a French tribunal sided with Louis Vuitton. No one knows what happened to the Hummer.
