Come the beginning of November, the SEMA show opens its doors to a world of engineering wonders. Few of them though promise to be as spectacular – and large – as the display envisioned by Ford.
The Blue Oval is getting ready to invade the Las Vegas Convention center with a division of 50 vehicles, whose combined power and spread will make for the “largest original equipment manufacturer display.” And every single one of those cars is about high-power, high-torque and Built Tough.
And here’s a few of them.
The star of the lineup may just as well be the Tjin Edition Ford Ranger, a slammed pickup truck created by Neil and Collin Tjin. These guys are Ford regulars, and over the years they’ve shown some mind-boggling creations.
This time, their idea is a “wide low street-ready” truck, riding on Falken tires and custom 20-inch Rotiform LHR-M three-piece wheels. The truck is among the first of its generation to have been lowered with air suspension, and sits closer to the ground by 8 inches in the front and 9 inches in the rear.
The engine has been tuned to. The duo added a Roush Performance intake, a Ford Performance cat-back exhaust and an RPG front-mounted intercooler to the 2.3-liter EcoBoost.
For overlanding enthusiasts, the 2019 RTR Rambler Ford Ranger comes with Ford Performance off-road suspension leveling kit tuned by Fox, RTR Tech 6 wheels with 33-inch Nitto Ridge Grappler tires, and a roof tent.
The Transit lines of vans will be on the floor of the event as well, spearheaded by the Polvoorde Racing/Outside. Mounted on tracks instead of wheels, this vehicle is meant to be the ideal platform for adventures, being capable of carrying to the most remote of locations things like mountain bike, snowboards, paddleboards, and kayaks.
There’s even a slammed Transit, riding 5 inches lower than the commercial variant.
