Tesla is a car company that spends next to nothing on advertising. It does so o purpose because its leader, Elon Musk, in his great and unmatched wisdom, decided his cars will sell better on word-of-mouth power only. Who can argue he’s wrong?
Somehow, using this method, Tesla managed to become one of the best selling electric car brands on the market. The power of the people has clearly overcome the dollars of pretentious advertising agencies, backed by a clever design, innovative features and fun beyond words.

That’s why hearing Tesla is the most googled car brand in the U.S. comes as no surprise. The sheer scale of searches however is baffling.

As per a research by Click4Reg, a British personalized number plates company, Tesla Google searches in the U.S. amounted to a record 2.24 million, outclassing everyone else by a clear margin. To put things into perspective, that would be one Tesla Google search per month for every 146 Americans. Give or take.

As for car models, obviously the highest-ranking one is the Model 3, with 673k searches per month in the States, nearly double the size of runner up Toyota Highlander. Toyota as a carmaker comes in second after Tesla, with 1.83 million searches.

At the opposite end sits British brand TVR, with 6,600 searches, and just above it, surprisingly, Dacia, with 8,100 searches.

There is another American carmaker in the top three, Ford, with 1.22 million searches and a total of 301k for the new Explorer.

The source does not mention the timeframe taken into account when conducting the survey, but they did say they used analytics tools for 45 car brands “each month.”

The results of this research comes just days after we learned Tesla Model S is the most talked-about car on Twitter in 20 American states, the majority of them on the west coast.
