On paper, Android Auto looks like a must-have application you’ll absolutely enjoy when getting behind the wheel. But in reality, the experience is far from flawless, with users occasionally coming across problems that nobody knows how to fix.
Every once in a while, Google reaches out to the Android Auto user community to collect more information on specific issues, and the company did the same thing this week.
In other words, the Mountain View-based search giant needs your help to deal with a glitch experienced on Android Auto after installing the Android 11 update that caused the audio to be routed to the phone’s speakers, not to the car’s.
The issue was first reported by Samsung device owners earlier this month, and the company initially said the Android Auto unit was investigating. But now, more feedback is required to figure out what exactly is happening and why the audio isn’t routed correctly from the very beginning.
“Thanks for reporting this issue. It would be great if you could send us a bug report from your phone to diagnose the root cause of the issue. We'll send an email with the instructions on how to capture a bug report. Please reply directly to the email with your information. Thanks!” a member of the Android Auto team said in a post only a few hours ago.

In the meantime, there’s not much you can do to restore the normal behavior of Android Auto in your car, as the generic workarounds many people have turned to don’t seem to make any difference. Of course, the investigation is still in its early days, and there’s no ETA as to when a fix could land for everybody.
