The U.S. Government Got Seriously Green with DoE’s $6 Million Worth Awards

Whether or not you’re one of the eco-conscious drivers out there, you should know that our government does invest quite a lot of money in the research and development of alternative vehicle market growth. In fact, it was just the other month The Energy Department announced they are paying $6 million for 11 projects aimed at improving potential buyers’ experiences with alternative fuel and plug-in electric vehicles. Let us take a closer look, shall we?

“How blue can you get?” is what B.B. King asks in one of his most popular songs, but we’re going to change colors for a change for this one. Green or grey, a lot of money are being spent and since we haven’t yet quite had the chance to talk about it so far, we figured we take a small step back and talk about what happened to DoE’s $6 million.

We’re basically looking at 11 projects that involve supporting training, and integrating alternative fuels into emergency planning. Why? Because by removing barriers to market growth, these projects will expand Americans’ transportation options, minimize fuel costs, reduce carbon pollution, and increase the nation’s security energy. Yuhuu, so much green.

Five of the ones mentioned will enable consumers and fleets to drive alternative fuel vehicles for extended periods of time to help them better understand how these vehicles can meet their everyday needs. Another five governmental funds spending companies will focus on training for first responders, public safety officials, tow-truck operators, and collision repair specialists and teach these service providers how to safely handle alternative fuel vehicles.

These and a couple of other projects have received quite a big pile of cash so in case you’re curious getting more info about them feel free to check out the press release below.

Again, how green can you get?
