The new Toyota Yaris hatchback has just been launched in Thailand, but it's not the car we know from Europe and America, it's actually the model introduced recently in China.
The car is actually related to the Vios sedan and has a 2,550mm wheelbase, while the European model only has a 2,510mm wheelbase. The boot is also bigger at 326 liters, compared to just 280 liters.
The Thailand market Vios also has a new engine which you probably have never heard off: a new 3NR-FE 1.2 litre four-cylinder petrol engine with DOHC and Dual VVT-i that’s developed exclusively for the Thai market. It makes 86 hp and 108 Nm and is available exclusively with the Super CVT-i transmission.
But perhaps the most striking feature is the design, which features a large trapezoidal grille that makes it quite scary. The interior is also special, with buttresses on the dash that remind you of the Camry and even a bit of some Lexus models.
