The Snake Makes One More Victim, Proves Nike Sneakers Are No Riding Gear

The video below shows two very important aspects of riding a motorcycle. The first and most important fact is that when trying to push the limits past the limits of a rider’s skills, the odds of coming off battered and bruised are literally sky-high. On the other hand, riding with the appropriate gear while pushing the limits is a very wise idea, and even so, there are a lot of things which can go terribly wrong even when wearing All The Gear All The Time.

Now, while riding in the warm summer weather in the town wearing a t-shirt, shorts and some heavier boots MIGHT be alright in a way, going out to play around the canyon bends requires proper riding gear. Casual jeans and common sneakers are nowhere near any sort of proper motorcycle gear as they come with an almost zero protection factor.

Even more, this video shows how easily can a motorcycle jacket be torn apart under certain circumstances. If you watch the video closely, you can see that the massive rip in this Icon jacket was not caused by abrasion against the road, but by the left handlebar of the DR-Z. In case the rider would have then slid down the road on his belly, the outcome would be really easy to figure out.

As for the cause of the crash, it was not the peg scraping against the road, but the rider’s right foot which dragged first, shifting the balance of the bike and causing the whole mess. Luckily, the rider got away with some knee and chest bruises, but things could have been so much uglier. We’d call this a rather close call and a very serious heads up message for similar occasional racers around the Snake.
