The SLS AMG Black Series Goes Against The Porsche 911 GT2 RS

Now that the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG is heading into a postponed demise later on this year, we will probably hear about fewer and fewer test drives with the modern Gullwing, not to mention with its most hardcore version, the Black Series.

We're guessing that the same thing happened when Porsche pulled the plug on the limited edition 911 GT2 RS (997), but here we are in 2014 and both the SLS AMG Black Series and the out-of-production Porsche 911 GT2 RS are having a track battle at the hands of EVO's Jethro Bovingdon.

In case it's not obvious by now, neither of the two aforementioned supercars can be bought as new in 2014, but this doesn't mean that every example ever sold has disappeared from the face of the Earth.

Two of them are in the EVO track battle bellow, and even if you're not a huge fan of either of the cars you will most definitely enjoy at least something about the footage.

Whether it's the hair-raising exhaust note of the epic M159 engine in the SLS AMG Black Series or how composed the 911 looks while being trashed around a track, there is bound to be something to enjoy.

We liked it despite the fact that the long-hooded AMG managed a slower time on the unnamed and rather short circuit, with the sideways action more than making up for it just by itself.

For the non-connoisseurs out there, the SLS AMG Black Series is powered by a naturally-aspirated 6.2-liter V8 that develops 631 hp and 635 Nm (468 lb ft) of torque, while the Porsche 911 GT2 (997) makes good use of a 3.6-liter, twin-turbocharged boxer six that outputs 620 hp and 700 Nm (516 lb ft) of torque.
