Just two months before the car makes its official debut in Frankfurt, BMW's first purpose-built all-electric vehicle is making its appearance in patent images. We've been following the i3 even since it was first shown as a concept almost two years ago.
These patent images showing the actual production car reveal the i3 stays true to its concept roots. The car is a sexy five-door with small reverse-opening doors at the back.

Power will come from a rear-mounted electric motor producing 170 hp and 250 Nm (184 lb-ft). For additional range, you can specify the car with a 0.65-liter two-cylinder motorcycle engine that can recharge the battery.
