The Polydrop Looks Like a Miniature Spaceship

It’s edgier than a ‘90s video game’s textures.“Inspired by the design of a space capsule,” this compact travel trailer might just be worthy of a Star Wars movie.

All those sharp edges seem to remind me of Tesla’s Cybertruck. I can’t help but wonder how they would fit side by side.

Should you be claustrophobic or in search of luxury, plenty of space and ultimate high-tech equipment, the Polydrop may not exactly be your first pick. Nonetheless, it is practical, safe and last but not least, highly affordable!

After earning a Master's degree in Architecture, founder and CEO Kyunghyun Lew became increasingly frustrated seeing other projects he designed come to life, while the idea he’s dreamed of developing remained exactly that, a dream. When Lew decided to finally pursue it, the first Polydrop prototype was born.

It all started with a small wooden, teardrop-shaped, orange capsule on a basic utility trailer,” which Lew and his wife took for a year-long trip around the U.S. Ever since then, his idea slowly evolved into what we see today.

Polydrop happens to be among the most insulated camping trailers available on the market. Its 8.7" insulation will be sure to maintain a pleasant temperature year round.

Whenever you feel like it’s time to escape your daily routine with a memorable journey, it’ll have you covered.

The 100W solar panel charges a 12V battery, powering some of the cool stuff found in the main compartment, as well as appliances in a rear kitchenette.

Oh, about that… The kitchenette is handsome in its simplicity, but somehow manages to come equipped with (more or less) everything you’ll need. K-17s and 19s are basic, but a hand pump sink, stove and fairly sized storage cabinet are featured on K-20 and KJ-20 models, with the latter also including a Dometic CD-20 drawer-type fridge and spice rack to suit your culinary needs.

Going back to the sleeping cabin we find charging ports accompanied by an easily accessible panel, giving you control of lights, the thermostat, air conditioning and rooftop fan. It also appears to have a tiny screen mounted on the wall, which lets you spy all angles of your surroundings through four cameras (now that’s what I call spatial awareness!).

Wrapping it all up is a durable structural FRP interior wall, covered by a faux leather trim for extra points in elegance. That half-modern, half-retro interior look is a little odd, but cozy enough.

When it’s time to stretch those legs, you’ll do so under 49 sq ft of shade provided by the roof-rack awning with integrated drop-down poles. The KJ-20 also comes with a Roadshower for fresh and odorless voyage. It is exterior though, so make sure no one’s around, will you?

All this probably doesn’t sound like very much, but it satisfies the basics. With a price tag starting at $14,495 for the base model, we can’t complain.

Despite the fully loaded KJ-20 costing you an extra $5,500, I’d say the upgrade’s worth every cent!

Would you spend the night in Polydrop’s simple, yet innovative capsule?
