Certainly many of you remember The Pink Panther Show from the seventies, the series of animated cartoons that brought the main and title character in the opening and closing credit sequences of every film in The Pink Panther series to our TV screens on Saturday mornings.

The opening sequence of the first season showed a boy driving the Panthermobile and then letting out the Pink Panther and the Inspector. In the ending credits, the Inspector goes back in and the boy drives off but leaves the Pink Panther behind.

Now that your memory is refreshed, we’ll tell you that the original Pink Panther car, the so-called Panthermobile, is now offered at an auction for the second time.

The one-of-a-kind car is now 42 years old. The engine is not currently running, but it was believed to be working when the vehicle was sold in 2007. As the car is not street-legal, it does not come with a Swansea V5.

The car was designed by none other than Jay Ohrberg, the same who produced other famous movie and television vehicles including Knight Rider K.I.T.T., Back To The Future DeLorean, 1966 Batman Batmobile, 1989 Batman Batmobile, Dukes of Hazzard General Lee, Starsky & Hutch Ford Gran Torino and even the Flintstones car.

The Pink Panther car has reportedly been owned by Ohrberg until it was entered into auction in June 2007 by COYS. It was then bought for £88,000 by the current owner.

The current online auction begins September 4 at the following link. It ends October 14.
