The Only Ferrari LaFerrari in North America Is Up For Sale

Justin Bieber allegedly has one on the way, but it doesn’t seem like this particular hypercar is his. As a matter of fact, it doesn’t really matter who is selling the rare breed, the real question here is why. The $5 million price tag may be the rightful answer.

Nevertheless, why would anybody want to sell the one Ferrari that “boasts the most extreme performance ever achieved by a Ferrari production car and features the most advanced and innovative technical solutions.” Sure, any pretentious automaker will say the same about his best model, no matter how high the stakes are. But that doesn’t mean we’re not looking at one of the greatest pieces of machinery ever created.

A proud member of the world’s hybrid hypercar triad - LaFerrari, 918 Spyder and P1 - this rocket is based on what the engineers at Maranello found while testing the Ferrari FXX. It provides the highest power output of any Prancing Horse while decreasing fuel consumption by 40 percent. For the love of sustainable engineering, this is madness!

Its internal combustion engine is a mid-rear mounted Ferrari F140 65 degrees V12 with a 6.3-liter capacity producing 789 horsepower at 9,000 rpm and 516 lb-ft (700 Nm) of torque at 6,750 rpm. Wait, there’s more. You see this is just the primary output; there’s also a KERS unit supplementing the total strength with another 161 hp.

With everything activated, this black hypercar is producing an impressive 963 horsepower and 664 lb-ft of torque. OK, maybe all these figures are not building up the big picture, as performance would. So here’s what we got: Ferrari states the car has a top speed exceeding 217 mph (350 km/h). It’s capable of reaching the 62 mph (100 km/h) mark from a standstill in under three seconds.

Again, we don’t see why would anyone sell this car. However, according to Drizz, the price tag for this limited edition hypercar is $5 million, which makes it one of the most expensive cars currently on available in North America.
