The Old Cat and Mouse, Biker and Driver Game Played with British Accent

London road rage 1 photo

We've been mesmerized before by how polite some road arguments (we can't really call that "road rage") are resolved in Britain, with even people who obviously hate each other at the moment refraining from muttering any words they would not use in front of their kids. But, surprise, it's not always like that.
Just like regular cyclists, motorcycle riders don't really get along with any of the other road users. Pedestrians consider them too loud, bicyclists don't like it when they end up behind a bike because of all the exhausts fumes they inhale (with the tailpipe being higher than on most cars), and the drivers, well, let's just say they have a whole list of problems that they keep adding up to.

The bikers have plenty to complain about, too. Usually, they feel car drivers do very little to protect the more exposed motorcyclists, but the drivers defend saying they shouldn't have to look after them so much if they didn't behave so erratically in the first place. We guess it's one of those conflicts that will never end where it's impossible to tell who is right and who is not.

Much like this incident here. The Volkswagen Passat driver is on the outside lane, clearly marked for a right-hand turn. However, he doesn't want to go right, but forward. The biker overtakes a few of the cars queueing up and pulls back in a gap, which happens to be the exact same as the one the driver wanted to use. As the video author points out, the Passat did not have the indicator on, which earned him a one point deduction.

With the car stopped just to his right and the indicator on at this time, the biker know has a very clear idea of what the Volkswagen driver wants to do, but he's in a lecturing mood. Ignoring the fact that he's basically done the same thing as the driver by overtaking the queued cars and cutting in front, he tells the man in the blue Passat he should do as the lane marking says and turn right. That's one point taken out of his tally as well, so it's a draw so far. He could have been a gentleman and moved forward a few meters, avoiding the conflict and making the world a better place.

But he didn't. More than that, he made sure he blocked the car's access to the lane, even though it might have caused an accident. The driver was no less of a tool, forcing his way until the last moment. Points deductions all round, so the draw holds.

But not for long, as the driver undertakes on the inside, stops the car in front of the biker and gets out to confront him. "What you gonna do?" is obsessively repeated, and yet nobody does anything. The driver calls the man a "f***ing stupid foreigner," which is minus one hundred, so the biker can't lose this anymore. But, really, winning with a negative score isn't really winning. It just means you sucked less than the other guy.
