The Old and the Not so Old from Seat in the Techno Classica Essen Car Show

As the Techno Classica Essen Car Show has just started, every important car manufacturer has a few surprises up its sleeve, surprises to be unveiled there. This show is not all about concepts and future models, it focuses more on the past, on the models that made history. The Spanish manufacturer, Seat, will also take part in this show, presenting four models, three stunning classics and one super sporty model.

The exact Seat line-up in the Techno Classica Essen Car Show includes the Seat 600, the 850 Sport Spider, the Toledo Marathon and the Concept Car Formula. Out of these four, probably the most representative for Seat is the 600, model launched in 1957, and produced until 1973. Because Seat was a joint venture between the Spanish government and Fiat, the Seat 600 was nothing more than a Spanish version of the Fiat 600. Nevertheless, it still remains an important part of Seat history.

Just like the Seat 600, the Seat 850 Sport Spider is a replica of the Fiat 850 Spider, built under license in Spain. The Seat Toledo Marathon was a vehicle that came after almost six years of study, released in 1992, this model managing to win the Greece raid in 1993.

Last but not least, comes the Seat Concept Car Formula, first announced in 1999. It has a 20 valve turbo, 4 cylinder, 2.0 liter engine, which develops 240 horsepower, all coupled to a 6 speed sequential gearbox. The Concept Car Formula needs only 5 seconds to reach 100 km/h from standstill and has a top speed of 235 km/h.

Considering that last year the Techno Classica Essen attracted more than 150,000 visitors and had more than 1,000 exhibitors, these Seat models will certainly get their fair share of visitors.
