Honda Europe is a sluggish company that reports diminishing sales year after year. But after it was announced that the Civic would go global, and that Britain would make cars for America, things sort of blossomed.
The hottest versions of the Civic has only been around for a short while, but just like the Ford Fucus RS, it arrives towards the end of the current model's life cycle.

Based on the all-new 10th generation platform, the Civic hatch will be renewed as a 2017 model and will look like its American sedan cousin from the front. How do we know? Well, Honda dropped a concept in Geneva two days ago. And if history has taught us something, it's that they don't divert from the look of the future production car.

Already, we've seen the next-gen Civic Type R undergoing testing everywhere from the North Pole to the Nurburgring. As sorry as we are to see the current car go, the next one is sure to be even better.

X-Tomi's latest rendering seems to be pretty accurate. He got the fender flares and the front end right. The next Civic 5-door will be a notchback with a sloping roof and the front end of an Acura. Some nice 20-inch wheels will channel at least 310 horsepower from the 2.0-liter turbo motor, Honda's first such unit.

Unfortunately, we don't have a rendering of the back, so we're going to revert to the spy photos again (added to the photo gallery below). Why is the back important? Because we think the middle of the three exhaust pipes is a bypass feature. Having a hot hatch with active exhaust is seriously cool in our book!

As we said already, you won't have to wait that long for the next Type R. The regular hatch will reportedly show up in the last months of 2016, and the hot version will follow soon after that. Compared to the outgoing model, the Honda Civic Mk10 hatchback will be 30 mm wider, 20 mm lower, and 130 mm longer. Just imagine building something hot on that platform!
