The New MINI Cooper Has a Lot of New Features

As announced by our BMW Power Blog last week, MINI held a conference in Helsinki this weekend in order to show the most important MINI dealers from around the world how the new MINI Cooper will look like.

The lucky members that were invited to the event were impressed by the new MINI. They weren't allowed to take any photos or videos of the new model but some info was leaked anyway.

It seems like the models that were showcased had 3 or 5 doors and that means that we will see the first MINI Cooper with 5 doors ever built soon. As for the size of the car, it will not be bigger than the Countryman in length, staying well under the measurements of the 1 Series as well.

The new features that the model will have include a new dashboard that replaces the classic speedometer with a new multimedia system from BMW that has a pulsating light around it whenever the phone rings. Also, the front side of the car will sport new, optional full LED headlights that look impressive.

We should also expect the 8-speed automatic gearbox to be available on the new MINI along with turbocharged 1.5-liter engines with TwinPower technology that will have a range of power outputs from 100 to 200 HP.

Other new features will probably include the new Park Assist system and a rearview camera (that will come in handy for the Cooper, especially for the 5-door version which has some problems regarding rear visibility).
