At the very end of the video which celebrated the fifth birthday of the R8 sportscar, Audi left a little easter egg for the automotive world: the message “The new Audi R8 is coming.”
We have been waiting for this news for about half a year now, because we’re fans of the R8 and the way it reshaped the sportscar world. The teaser reveals precious little about what’s coming, but fortunetely we already have a leaked photo for a new bumper.
This is not exactly what the actual production model will look like, but the headlights will indeed become full-LED, and most likely thinner. The front grille will also become hexagonal like on the A5 facelift.
No new engines will be introduced to the R8, despite the fact that Audi has already tested both the 2.5-liter turbo five-cylinder and a 3.0-liter TFSI. However, both the V8 and V10 will get a power increase. However, the most important change is the fact that Audi is finally replacing the R-tronic with a seven-speed S-tronic double-clutch gearbox.
