With just one week left until the much anticipated auto show in Geneva will open its doors to the media, Aston Martin has taken the wraps off its latest sports car model: the new Virage. The vehicle will come available in a two-door door coupe or convertible body style with 2+2 seating, which will retail under the Virage and Virage Volante designations respectively.

Boasting Aston Martin’s VH architecture in an aluminum magnesium alloy and composite body, the new Virage also comes with extruded aluminium door side impact beams, single Bi-Xenon Headlamps with integrated LED side lights and direction indicators, as well as LED rear lamps and side repeaters. The signature swan wing doors are also featured.

Inside the car, passengers will find seven hides of the finest Bridge of Weir leather and a pinstripe welt which flows down either side of the fascia and along the seat and door. Standard features of the car includes heated seats (Sports seats only), cruise control, satellite navigation, Bluetooth telephone preparation and the powerful 700W Aston Martin Premium Audio System with Dolby Pro Logic II and full iPod integration.

Performance wise, the new Virage is powered by a front mid-mounted 5,935cc V12 engine coupled with a rear mid-mounted Touchtronic 2 six speed automatic gearbox with electronic shift by wire system. The unit is developing 490 bhp (365 kW / 497 PS) at 6500 rpm and 570 Nm (420 lb.ft) at 5750 rpm, enough to propel it from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 4.6 seconds and on to a maximum speed of 186 mph (299 km/h).

The model, which comes to fill in the gap between the elegant DB9 and the sportier DBS, is to get a price tag at the aforementioned event, where it will be joined by two further new cars: the V8 Vantage S and the new Tailor-Fit Cygnet city car,
