As Hurricane Dorian continues on its path (which doesn’t include Alabama, regardless of what Trump says), a Jeep Grand Cherokee has become an unlikely viral star after it was found stranded in Myrtle Beach, California.
Myrtle Beach Jeep is now a thing and it was even trending on social media at some point. By the time the Jeep made headlines in the U.S. media, the SUV was engulfed by water and was floating. It had been abandoned on the beach and was caught by the rising waters of the tide.

Battered by strong winds and in danger of being carried away altogether, the Jeep fought on. People gathered to see it and take pictures with it, and one dude even serenaded it with his bagpipes. WMBF says that it survived the night and while that in itself is a small miracle, it will probably never be driven again. The media outlet spoke to a guy whom they verified as being the rightful owner, and they learned that he believes that his beloved car will most likely be totaled.

He wasn’t the one who left it in Dorian’s path, though. In a phone call interview, the man explains that he’d lent the car to his cousin, who was in town but was on a bike which was not suitable for the worsening weather conditions. The cousin wanted to visit the beach before Dorian hit, so he drove there – and got stuck in the sand.

“I guess there’s that runoff there and he didn’t realize it was in front of him, he was looking out the window when he went off and got stuck, which you can see he actually banged up the bumper a bit,” the owner tells the media outlet. “It’s probably going to end up being totaled. I didn’t want it totaled... the Jeep is an awesome Jeep.”

Perhaps worse than ruining another man’s car (relative or no relative) was the fact that the cousin left it there and didn’t even bother to tell him what had happened. The poor owner had to find out some hours later, when police knocked on his door to tell him they’d found his car.
