A while back BMW published a video showing us how their most expensive paint is applied, in a daring attempt to justify its price tag. We didn’t think much of it at first but now, after we learned how much it costs, we’re forced to reconsider.
The BMW Individual range is that place where extremely rich people go to make their cars ‘special’. It offers levels of exclusivity you rarely meet and the master crafters that work at Individual Manufaktur are definitely some of the best in the business.

Basically, anything you want is possible as long as you can afford it. Don’t like the colors BMW offers as standard ? Get yourself the color you want. Don’t like the combinations available for the cabin? No problem, you can have your pick out of plenty of other choices, just check out the Individual catalogue.

Most people go for a special paint job and associate the ‘Individual’ name with a custom exterior color. That’s not all the range offers but that’s what a lot of customers understand by it.

The prices are a bit prohibitive, to be honest. The cheapest BMW Individual paint depends on the model you’re choosing for but it’s around $2,000. It might seem like a lot now but wait until you hear how much the most expensive color is. Ready? $10,300 in the States and €8,000 in Europe.

That’s right, the most expensive color from the BMW Individual range, the BMW Individual Pure Metal Silver, costs Porsche Cayenne S money. Admittedly, it would have to be a second-hand 2004 model but still...

Now that you grasped that information, we’ll let BMW explain the price tag in their own way, with a video showcasing how such a paint is applied. After watching it, you tell us if it’s worth the financial effort.
